PlaceMatters is partnering with the Brendle Group and Clarion Associates to develop the City of Omaha's Comprehensive Energy Management Plan. The Plan will provide the City with baseline data on various energy and emissions metrics, goals and metrics for reducing energy use and emissions from various sources, and clear implementation steps.
Tools and Methods
Working closely with the City and building upon work already completed by Environment Omaha, PlaceMatters will be using surveys, touch-technology, Brainstorm Anywhere and other methods to gather citizen input on the plan during focus group meetings. At the first workshop with stakeholders on March 11, 2011, PlaceMatters used low-cost table-top projectors and mind mapping software (FreeMind) to capture structured dialogue on many of the draft practice and policy measures.
Outcomes
The Omaha CEMP is in progress. PlaceMatters will be helping to host a webinar of findings by the team and a final meeting in late April to refine recommended actions with the steering committee. There will be a final public meeting to release the draft CEMP for comment and to celebrate the process once it is complete.
